Please note the doctor will try twice to make contact.

If you need to order your prescription you do this on our 24hour automated telephone line.  Please call 0191 2650785

Biddlestone Health Group in Heaton provides the highest quality healthcare to patients in the Newcastle area. Our doctors, nurses and all our other staff are dedicated to offering a professional service and this surgery website will help us to keep all our patients up to date with news and information about our practice.

As well as a source of information about our practice, the staff and the services we provide, we hope you will use this website as a useful resource for other health-related information. Please have a look around and do send us some feedback if you like. We can use your ideas to improve our online services and further develop the content of this site.

Contrary to some of the media we are open. The pandemic still means precautions continue to reduce our capacity to see face to face patients. We are ensuring those patients who need face to face appointments get them. Government mandated precautions continue in the NHS such as social distancing in waiting rooms. This means we cannot offer all patients direct booking of face to face appointments. Many are finding that telephone appointments and e-consults (available from the practice website) are meeting their needs in a much more convenient way allowing those limited numbers of face to face appointments to be used by those who need them.

We thank everyone for their understanding at this time of great pressure for all parts of the NHS.

Advanced Clinical Practitioners

We have recently recruited an Advanced Nurse Practitioner (ANP) Kaye.  Kaye is a Registered Nurse, educated to Master’s Level in clinical practice and have been assessed as competent in practice using her expert clinical knowledge and skills.

Kaye can make professionally autonomous decisions, for which they are accountable. Kaye has the freedom and authority to act, making independent decisions in the assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of patients.  Kaye is also able to make referrals to hospitals, community teams, Social Services and Voluntary organisations.

Kaye can treat patients with on-going health issues, also undiagnosed problems.

In line with NHS guidelines Biddlestone Health Group is now operating a telephone triage appointment system. Currently this is same day contact.

When you ring a receptionist will take your details and arrange for a doctor to phone you back to discuss your symptoms and the best course of action.

Whilst we cannot guarantee what time the doctor will call it will be that day.

Please note the doctor will try twice to make contact.

  • a cough
  • a high temperature
  • shortness of breath
  • The symptoms are similar to other illnesses that are much more common, such as cold and flu.

More and more of our prescriptions are being sent electronically to a chemist of our patient’s choice.

Not only does this save the NHS money, it is more secure and faster than the paper prescription being collected by the patient or their nominated chemist.

In 2020 it is expected that over 95% of prescriptions will be delivered electronically.
