Advanced Nurse Practitioner (ANP) are a Registered Nurse, educated at Master’s Level in clinical practice, have been assessed as competent in practice using their expert clinical knowledge and skills.
Advanced Clinical Practitioner (ACP) come from a range of professional backgrounds such as Pharmacy, Paramedics, Occupational Therapy and Nursing. Educated to Master’s level, are competent in practice using expert clinical knowledge and skills.
Advanced practice is a level of practice, rather than a type of practice
Both ANP and ACP make professionally autonomous decisions, for which they are accountable. They have the freedom and authority to act, making independent decisions in the assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of patients. Able to make referrals to hospitals, community teams, Social Services and Voluntary organisations.
Treating patients with on-going health issues, also undiagnosed problems. Using problem solving and decision-making skill.
